Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses or sorghum
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2-1/2 cups WEM Organic Whole Wheat Flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
Hands-on Time: 20 minutes
Baking Time: 10-12 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Yield: Approximately 3 dozen
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cream butter and sugar by hand or with an electric mixer.
- Stir in molasses, egg, and buttermilk.
- Sift together dry ingredients and add to wet.
- Coat baking sheets with cooking spray.
- Roll into balls the size of a walnut or drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
- Bake 10-12 minutes.
- Cool on rack.
