A fresh and delicious apple cake that is perfect for every season!
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter or vegetable oil
- 2 cups sifted WEM Organic Whole Wheat Flour or 1/2 Whole Wheat and 1/2 WEM Organic Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 4 cups peeled and chopped cooking apples (Jonathon, Granny Smith, Rome or your favorite
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
Baking Time: 30-35 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour
Servings: 10 to 12
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Coat an 11 X 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray and dust with flour.
- Prepare apples.
- Cream butter or oil and sugar by hand with a whisk or with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs and buttermilk.
- Add flour, salt, and spices.
- Fold in apples and nuts.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake 30-35 minutes.
