Apple Oat Bars

This is a great take along breakfast or snack bar!

Ingredients

CRUST:

  • 1 cup WEM Organic Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup WEM Organic Thick Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 cup WEM Organic Oat Bran
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey or brown sugar

FILLING:

    • 1 cup chopped dried or fresh apples
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
    • 1/2 cup raisins
    • 1/4 cup lemon juice
    • 1 cup water

Instructions

CRUST:

    1. Mix crust ingredients together until well blended.
    2. Oil a 11 X 7 inch baking pan.
    3. Press evenly into pan using fingertips.

FILLING:

  1. In a saucepan, combine all filling ingredients except honey.
  2. Simmer over low heat until water is absorbed, about 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in honey.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  5. Spread filling over crust mixture.
  6. Bake 20 minutes.
  7. Cool and cut into bars.
