Pioneer Days at War Eagle Mill

June 25th – 29th – Join us this week as we are celebrating our pioneer heritage with classes, art and cooking demos, music and more! War Eagle Mill was founded in 1832, so we have a special place in our heart for individuals who are willing to build great things with their hands, their hearts and their perseverance! During Pioneer Days we will honor the way pioneers made items from scratch, using time-honored techniques.

 

Join us June 25 through 29 as we hold demonstrations in:


  • Home Canning - preserving veggies, jams and more. Get the most out of your garden bounty and "savour" the flavor for later!
  • Dutch oven cooking - using slow cast iron cooking to make culinary creations with out-of-this-world flavor! Come join us over the coals and taste the differeance.
  • Pottery - pottery wheel demonstrations let you get your hands in the clay!
  • Music - a local fiddle student will also perform Civil War era and traditional folk music.

  • Friday, June 25: Baking and Dutch Oven Demonstrations 10am-2pm
  • Saturday, June 26: Pottery Demonstration with Jim Young 11am-2pm
  • Sunday, June 27: Pottery Demonstration with Jim Young 11am-2pm; Fiddle Music with Madeleine Hogue 10am-Noon
  • Monday, June 28: Baking Demonstrations 10am-2pm
  • Tuesday, June 29: Dutch Oven Demonstrations 10am-1pm
Also join our friends at Hobbs State Park, just minutes from the Mill. Hobbs State Park will be offering several activities throughout the Pioneer Days weekend. If you can't make their workshops, you can still enjoy their increasingly popular biking, hiking and horseback riding trails.
  • Saturady, June 26: Tree detectives 11am-12pm; Slithering Snakes 2pm-2:45pm; Fire for Housekeeping 4pm-4:30pm; Shaddox Hollow Guided Hike 10am-11:30am
  • Sunday, June 27: Reptiles of Hobbs 2pm-2:45pm; Shaddox Hollow Guided Trail Hike 10am-11:30am
