Fishing the War Eagle Creek on Father’s Day made for a Sunday Fun-day at the Mill! The morning rain storm delayed the Father’s Day Fishing Derby but visitors didn’t mind. They enjoyed the warmth of the Mill, grabbed some organic goodies and filled their bellies with breakfast or the lunch special: BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. Even with a gray sky and heavy rain outside, the Creek looked beautiful!
As the afternoon rolled around, rays of sunshine pierced through the clouds and the fish were on the move! Families grabbed their fishing poles to win a Derby prize for the biggest, smallest and ugliest fish. The Hale Family had a great time trying to catch a big one! Daughter, Jordan, kept her balance while helping her dad untangle his fishing line… She’s got skills!
A group of friends camping nearby came out to the Mill’s derby to test their luck at catching a big, small or ugly fish and win some prizes.
Luck was on their side! All 3 of them caught fish!
Geoff Band was the winner of the biggest fish, weighing in at 4 oz! He won a Father’s Day Gift Box filled with War Eagle Mill Cornbread Mix, Hush Puppy Mix, Ensley Fish Fry Mix and Hot Sauce! Rob Mcculley caught the smallest at 2 oz and won War Eagle Mill Hush Puppy Mix and Ensley Fish Fry Mix. Matthew Brewer caught the ugliest and won War Eagle Mill’s Ensley Fish Fry Mix!
Such happy fellows and such a great event. We hope you all can join us again next year!
